Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is one of the largest free-flight walk-in aviary in the world. Comprise of 4 different types of Zones, these zones make a very unique ecosystem that allows the birds to live and breed in a semi-natural environment. It is indeed breath-taking to witness different types of bird species flying freely and living together in harmony and balance. Visitors that visit the park will surely be awed by how clean and relatively odor-less the place is despite being a free-flying zone for birds to do as they please (droppings!).

Visitors can expect to explore the ecosystem which has more than 3000 birds of 200 different species, local & from all around the world. With its 20.9 acres of land, it is truly a sight to behold as one steps into the park. Divided into 4 broad zones, the park also promises visitors up to 2-3 hours of breath taking beauty and will prove to be an educational and fun expedition.

Zone 1 and 2 is the free-flight zone – This zone is home to many of the most exotic birds in the world. Within these zones there are smaller aviaries such as the Love Aviary, where you can find Lovebirds and other loveable parrots/parakeets. The aviary is home to many species of birds such as the Green-cheeked Conure and the ever cheeky naughty Indian Ring-neck Parakeet. Besides that, Zone 1 is also home to certain bird of prey, the Brahminy Kite; which looks like a smaller version of the American Bald Eagle. Visitors will be able to witness the feeding of the Brahminy Kites birds during the Eagle’s Feeding show which takes place at the Brahminy Land daily! Visitors then can proceed to witness flamingos in their distinct environment.

The view from the Flamingo Kiosk is one of the highlights of the Bird Park as the view is fantastic and breathtaking! Complete with a man-made waterfall and pond for the birds to waddle in; the flamingos are allowed to roam around freely and naturally. The next step will reveal another mini aviary, Bulbul Land. These colorful birds consist of the majority of the species that populate the bird park. With 130 species of Bulbuls altogether, these unique birds are main residents of this aviary. This aviary also consits of other bird species such as the Asian Fairy Bluebird, Silver Pheasant and the Golden-breasted Starling.

Zone 3 constitutes the Hornbill Park – This part of the park depicts the true tropical rainforest of Malaysia. It is home to a bird synonymous with the state of Sarawak, the Rhinoceros Hornbill. This part of the park has also a few species of hornbills. These birds blend perfectly with the existing environment and is indeed a remarkable sight to be relished. There is also a Hornbill Feeding session every day! Within this Zone 3, there is one souvenir shop inspired by the bird itself, the Hornbill Gift Shop which is located right next to a three-story Hornbill Restaurant and Café that serves local and western favorites. Visitors can take a break here before proceeding to finish their next excursion.

Zone 4 houses the mini aviaries – This Zone is a bit different from the rest of the other Zones; none the less it is an environment that closely resembles their natural habitat. These birds are placed in mini-aviaries but rest assured that they are non-the less breathtaking. One of the perks of this zone is that visitors will have more chances to be up-close and personal with the birds; even to the extent of feeding these birds with their bare hands!

Apart from the great experiences KL Bird Park provides visitors with educational tours and presentations, there is also a Bird Gallery where visitors learn about the importance of preserving the environment and how amazing birds are. There is also an amphitheater that is open to the public for Bird Shows. Visitors can get more information on this from the friendly Bird Park employees; especially information on the show times.

Coming back to the fun part; they have different type of sections in the park that offers more value to visitors such as the World of Parrots; that features a WIDE selection of parrots species, the Feathered Friends Photo Booth which allow visitors to take pictures with birds personally; literally allowing birds to be held. They also have a collection of shops to compliment the Bird Park such as the Peacock Gift Shop, Hornbill Gift Shop, Flamingo & Parrot Kiosk and Sandwich Bar.

The KL Bird Park is definitely a place to go with friends and families. One can never be too old or too young to enjoy the serene environment of mother nature. Visitors should take a chance to visit KL Bird Park and enjoy what they have to offer; this is because with the current environment that we live in; it would be rare and difficult to witness such beauty and serene anymore without travelling for miles to the jungles. Kl Bird Park is truly a remarkable place to visit especially for nature lovers! So do put on your sunny shoes and come visit Kl Bird Park to experience nature in its most natural and beautiful form!

SPCA Selangor is an animal welfare organisation based in Ampang Jaya, Selangor. The aim of the SPCA is to protect defenseless animals and to alleviate their suffering. They receive more than 700 unwanted, homeless or abused animals every month. They provide an adoption program, investigation of cruelty reports, humane education, assistance to community animal caregivers and run a dedicated, low-cost spay/ neuter clinic. They also lobby the Government and local municipals for humane treatment of animals and harsher penalties for perpetrators of crimes against animals. Founded in 1958, SPCA is a well-respected and trusted Non-Profit Organisation. Over the years, the organisation has gained tremendous goodwill, recognition and support from animal lovers all over Malaysia.

Don’t just be aghast but make a change by giving to the SPCA to help them in their mission to protect defenseless animals and to alleviate their suffering.

At here we are urging the public to Make-A-Difference by pledging a minimum donation of RM5. All of your donations will be forwarded to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Remember to gather all your contacts and get them to join in to this campaign to help the animals.

On 11 March 2010, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck Japan. At least 1300 deaths have been reported and thousands more are unaccounted for. The full effect of the earthquake’s force has not been fully understood but reports have shown severe devastation to people and land; houses wiped out, food rationing declared, telecommunications cut off and thousands are left stranded. With history repeating itself, the disastrous nature of such catastrophe was just too shocking for the victims and for us who stood restless, watching from afar.

We can do something about it.

Here we are urging the public to Make-A-Difference by pledging a minimum donation of RM10. All of your donations will be forwarded to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society assisting the victims of the earthquake and victims from other affected areas as well. Remember to gather all your contacts and get them to join in this monumental charity drive to create the magnitude, much bigger than the quake.

Shake your piggy and use it for this grand cause.

The more we donate, the more we recreate!
