BERJAYA University College of Hospitality (Berjaya UCH), Malaysia’s premier university college and Persatuan Perkhidmatan Komuniti Taiping (ESDA), recently announced plans to work together to help the latter in its mission to improve its members’s lifestyle.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines plans for cooperation in a variety of areas, including educational programmes and skill-based training support, for the marginalized youths registered with ESDA.

In his opening speech, ESDA chairman and founding director Stephen Chow expressed his gratitude to Berjaya UCH for taking a positive step in providing an opportunity for education to the poor and needy.

“This MoU is timely as it will benefit the marginalized very much. At ESDA, one of our core services is to reach out to poor and problematic children. With our new found partnership with Berjaya UCH, we are confident that these children will be given an opportunity to better their lives be it via educational or skill-based programmes. Today marks a wonderful beginning with Berjaya UCH and it is my hope that this merger will help the lives of the poor, providing them with a new inspiration as well as improving their socio-economic standards,” said Chew.

He was signing on behalf of Berjaya UCH Marketing and Business Development director Justin Yeoh, who couldn’t stress enough on the ramifications of collaboration such as this.

“Education is not confined to classrooms only as it is a constant process. Today, we are here to bring an opportunity to the clients of ESDA in whatever possible means to help them chart a better future. This MoU will see the development of dedicated skill-based programmes, education programmes as well as numerous CSR opportunities, which will benefit ESDA and society in general.

“We are confident that these young people can be equipped with the relevant skills and competency to enable them to contribute back to society with the programmes offered by Berjaya UCH. This is just the beginning and we look forward to a fruitful working relationship with ESDA,” said Yeoh.

Also present at the signing ceremony was MCA chief Bukit Gantang Datuk Ho Cheng Wang and Malaysia Care Finance & Communication senior director Alvin Lim.
