Want the Truth? Ask our Students.
Real students. Real voices. Real experiences.
When prospective parents and students visit Uplands School, we often encourage them to talk to our students. After all who would be better to tell you about the learning experience at Uplands if not the students themselves? Truthful insights that are personal and real.
At Uplands’ Open Day you will be able to talk to students as well as teachers, to questions, to visit classrooms, and to give yourself a better idea of what Upland School is really like.
Meanwhile we asked some of our Malaysian students, who came to us from local schools, to share with us their thoughts about Uplands.

“Upland gave me a chance to shine. The school has first class facilities and dedicated teachers who inspire us and help us secure places in the best universities! At Uplands, I’m exposed to a challenging international environment every day, and encouraged to think independently, working to the very best of my abilities. I’ve had a lot of fun too. The teachers can have a great sense of humour. Being at Uplands has enriched me and helped me to realize my full potential. I am always telling my friends outside of school how much they would benefit from being part of the Uplands community.” – Lai Shen Yi, IB Diploma student.
“I joined Uplands after completing my SPM examinations and immediately had to adapt to the Uplands approach. The top priority at the School is to find a balance between academic achievement and extra-curricular activities. Uplands offers a wide range of humanity and science subjects. Students are seen as individuals and an excellent pastoral system is implemented. Out of classroom activities are just as varied as the academic options.
There is a highly spirited and integrated community at Uplands which gives life to the School and makes it an exciting and friendly environment in which to live, learn and achieve! I’ve come to realise that life rarely turns out as we expect it to. Uplands has been something of a revelation.” – Jessica Quah Xiao Ling, GCE A-Level student
“As a born and bred Malaysian, I can only say that studying at Uplands School has been the unfolding of an amazing chapter in my life.
There teachers are truly dedicated, preparing lessons well and using modern resources such as powerpoints and interactive whiteboards. Subjects range from art to music, film studies, sciences and humanities and regular visit are conducted by universities from the USA, UK, Australia, Europe and all over the world.
However, it is my personal experience with friends and teachers from diverse cultures that I really value the most at Uplands, and which is the hardest to express through words.” – Adele Khor, IB Diploma student
