Nothing Is Impossible When We Dare To Dream
It all began with Solchiro Honda and his dream. It is that dream that has transformed Honda to what it is today; a company that produces motorcycles, cars, jets, race cars and the first Humanoid – ASIMO. In order to fulfill its social responsibility and to be recognized as a company that society want to exist, Honda has always been actively involved in many outreach programmes. Under the Honda Global Philanthropy Initiative, the company has been contributing to the well-being of society through environment, community, humanity and education projects.
Our Fearless Determination in Aviation
After 17 years of hard work and perseverance amidst overwhelming obstacles, the first test flight was successfully conducted in December 2003. We built both the airframe and the HF118 turbo-fan engine, which was totally new field for us. But we didn’t stop there. After many more years of research, we finally came out with a runway success of a jet – 50% more spacious than any aircraft in its class and reduced drag at high speeds, making it 30-35% more fuel-efficient than conventional jet.
Our Undaunted Pursuit in Robotics
The world’s first humanoid robot took more than 18 years before our engineers finally created ASIMO. After going through numerous technological improvements since it was first created, the humanoid robot is now able to perform tasks and execute many maneuvers just like human being. Today, ASIMO serves as a tour guide in museums and other technology-based organizations in Japan. With advanced technology continuing to evolve through time, we believe that there is no limit to what ASIMO can do.
Our Passion to Help Realise Dreams
Though we place much emphasis on delivering products, technologies and service to make people’s life better, we also strive to be a good corporate citizen. In order to fulfill our social responsibility and to be recognized as a company that society wants to exist, we have always been actively involved in many outreach programmes. Under the Honda Global Philanthropy Initiative, we have been contributing to the well-being of society through environment, community, humanity and education projects.
The Honda Dreams Fund is a community project under the Honda Global Philanthropy Initiative. In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the projects provide underprivileged youths with a full scholarship to pursue higher education or skills training in Malaysia. Since its inception in 2007, a total of 80 scholarships have been awarded. In 2011, another 20 under privileged youths will have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and aspirations through the Honda Dreams Fund.
