“The number of students who have already secured employment even before their graduation is a testament to the exceptional standard of the students”

EDUCATION may be the key to success but banking on good grades and academic qualification alone will not guarantee you a successful career.

But then again, it is the proactive and diligent students who are able to apply skills picked up during their studies and hands-on training who truly make it in the real world.

At KBU School of Engineering and Computing, students learn various engineering and computing programmes which are conducted by experienced and qualified lecturers. However, to transform these students into creative, innovative and visionary individuals, the students need to be exposed to more than book learning.

KBU believes that a holistic education is the solution to employment success. Hence, practical and hands-on training as well as industry experience are emphasized here.

The college, which enjoys an excellent reputation with graduate employers and placement sponsors like Intel and IBM, gives students the opportunity to be developed beyond classroom learning. Students are able to gauge the demands of the industry.

Some of the activities held to widen their knowledge include practical training, educational field visits, forums or seminars from industry and professionals and successful alumni as well as participation in inter-college/public competitions.

According to KBU School of Engineering and Computing head Lye Boon Han, it is the norm of KBU students to be poached by multinational engineering companies’ right after their final examinations.

“The number of students who have already secured employment even before their graduation is a testament to the exceptional standard of the students.”

Lye added that KBU engineering and computing graduates have earned the reputation of being all-rounder with high qualities.

KBU School of Engineering and Computing is currently conducting franchised 3 + 0 programmes in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK. Engineering programmes conducted in collaboration with NTU is BSc (Hons) Software Engineering while the other programmes that are conducted in collaboration with SHU are Beng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering and BSc (Hons) Computer & Network Engineering.
