To ensure it continues to lead in the field of information science and engineering. Management of Science University (MSU) has incorporated an industrial internship module for its undergraduates. It exposes them to the real industrial working environment, its challenges and demands, giving them hands-on experience.
The internship programme is mandatory for all bachelor programmes offered by the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE). It aims to create professional and knowledgeable workers who will be able to fulfil the needs of the local and global ICT sector.
Through the internship programme, student will be exposed to real-life projects and problems. One way to build a solid industrial experience is by getting their hands dirty doing the tasks themselves. They need to adopt a positive attitude towards the work environment and to take the initiative to tackle these real projects.
Upon completion of the internship, students have demonstrated better results and a positive work attitude plus professionalism and maturity. Some companies have even offered them jobs during their tenure as interns. The confidence level of companies for MSU graduate is evidence that MSU programmes prepare its graduates with the necessary tools that meet industry requirements.
MSU has designed its academic programmes and developed the curriculums based on market requirements to ensure employability of graduates. This is in line with its vision of becoming a specialized university of choice, providing holistic academic standards relevant to the needs of the industry and the nation while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Currently, 95% of MSU graduates secure employment during the initial six months after graduation. This information is based on the latest tracer study conducted by the university.
FISE currently offers Bachelor and diploma programmes in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Engineering; Business Computing; Graphic Design, Information Systems Auditing; Game Design and Animation; Technology (Electrical and Electronic); Instructional Multimedia; Computer Forensic; Mobile and Wireless Technology; Communication Design and Marketing; Creative Multimedia and Media Sciences.
Entry requirements for Bachelor programmes are minimum grade C in two subjects including General Paper and passes D in two subjects in STPM. Students with KPM Matriculation Certificate, A-Level, Foundation and other qualifications recognized by the MSU Senate are also invited to join the Bachelor programmes.
Entry requirements for Diploma programmes are minimum five credits in SPM including Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics and Science subjects. The diploma programmes aim to provide a strong foundation and skills tat students will be able to apply when they progress to first degree level or embark upon career.
The programmes are structured to enable students to work theoretically and practically. All MSU diploma students can gain second year advance standing into MSU Bachelor programmes.
A global exposure via MSU’s International Students Exchange Programmes (ISEP) unit will further strengthen graduates’ employability factor. Through this, students have the option of transferring for their final year studies at foreign universities, which are partners of MSU. There are over 40 universities for selection.
Apart from the FISE, MSU also offers medical, health science, business, management, foundation and post graduates programmes through the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies; School of Pharmacy; Centre for Foundation Studies; School of Graduate Studies and the Graduate School of Management.
