The university college’s objective to assist students in all aspects of their education extends beyond quality improvements in learning and teaching. As such, the KDU Scholarship Foundation presents scholarships to deserving students every year.
One may ask, “What does it take to earn a scholarship?”
Get good grades. This goes without saying. Excellent results are the surest way to get a scholarship. If a student already has straight A results to begin with, then they shouldn’t have anything to worry about. If they haven’t, worry not, as the KDU Scholarship Foundation has differing scholarships to recognize talent.
Excel in co-curricular activities. Concentration on academics is good, but students should also make sure they excel in some form of co-curricular activities, be it a sport or a club, as it shows that they are well-rounded students, and that helps in one’s scholarship application.
Play a sport! Besides recognizing good grades, the KDU Scholarship Foundation also gives awards to those who are good in sports, KDU’s Sports Scholarship is open to all national and state level athletes and sportsmen. Our Malaysian bowler Esther Cheah was awarded this scholarship when she was studying in the American Degree Program here.
Scholarship interviewers usually favour those who are able to show that they have leadership skills, be it in school projects or co-curricular activities. Those who display this are usually vocal, bold, assertive and confident. And that’s the kind of student that KDU would want to have.
The KDU Scholarship Foundation offers many options of financial assistance for students with differing needs. The Principal Scholarships cover 50% to 100% of the tuition fees for the programme of study. This scholarship is open to students from families with difficulties in financing their studies.
Applicants of the scholarship must be recommended by the school principal. They should possess good academic results and leadership in extracurricular activities.
Other than the Principal Scholarship, KDU also offers the Higher Achiever’s Scholarship. It is given as tuition fee waivers in recognition of a student’s outstanding results in the SPM/O Level and STPM/A Level.
Merit Scholarships are given to KDU students who have obtained outstanding results in their previous semester. Students must demonstrate exemplary performance in extra-curricular and sporting activities as well.
KDU also recognized students who have shown excellent performance in sports, and as such, bestows the Sports Scholarship to deserving students who are either state or national athletes and sportsmen.
Last year, Sports Scholarships were given to three students who excelled in tennis, taekwondo and badminton.

Established in 1983, KDU University College has been an important landmark in the development of private tertiary education and it aspires to grow in reputation and it aspires to grow in reputation and quality.
